Hole Options
Many of our wooden shapes are available with different hole options, giving you flexibility in how you use or display them.
Available Options
- No Hole – No additional hanging hole is added. Note: if the design itself includes cut-out details (e.g. an animal's eye), these will still be included.
- Single Hole – One hole, usually placed centrally at the top, so the shape hangs straight.
- Bunting Style – Two holes at the top, one on each side, perfect for threading twine or cord to create bunting, garlands, or a string of shapes.
- Two Holes (Top Corners) – Similar to bunting style, but positioned right in the top corners. Often used for plaques and boards to maximise usable space in the centre.
- Vertical Holes – One hole at the top and one at the bottom, so shapes can be strung together vertically (ideal for stacked hearts, stars, or name signs).
Hole Sizes & Placement
Hole sizes and positions can vary slightly by shape and size to ensure the piece hangs correctly, looks balanced, and stays strong. As a general guide:
- 1cm – 3.5cm shapes: 1mm – 2mm hole diameter
- 4cm – 9.5cm shapes: 3mm – 3.5mm hole diameter
- 10cm – 14.5cm shapes: 3.5mm – 4mm hole diameter
- 15cm – 20cm shapes: 4.5mm – 5mm hole diameter
- 20cm+ shapes: 5.5mm – 6.5mm hole diameter
Custom Options
Not every hole option is available on every shape. If you need something different, please get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
Good to know: Hole options shown on the product listing (usually 1–2 holes) are included at no extra charge. If you require additional holes beyond this, a small charge may be added to cover the extra work.
