4mm thick poplar plywood Blank rectangle boards, our plaques are ideal for crafting and plaque making. They have a nice smooth finish ready to embellish, paint or decorate yourself.
Material/wood type:
- 4mm thick poplar plywood
- This is a good quality unfinished plywood that is perfect for wooden craft shapes. Poplar is an Italian, pale coloured, light weight low density hardwood. Its natural wood appearance makes it perfect for clear finishes, waxes, left natural or is perfect for painting. We lightly sand both sides before they leave the workshop, but if you require a really smooth finish some extra preparation and sanding may be needed. As with all timber products it will have some grain markings, flecks or small knots on the faces. We use lasers to cut our shapes and this process leaves a light brown edge to the shape. It can also leave a few small flash/scorch marks behind. This is easily painted over or can be removed by sanding.

Sustainably Sourced Materials
We care about the environment and only purchase MDF and plywood from responsible suppliers. All of our wooden shapes are made from materials sourced from FSC® & PEFC certified suppliers, with a robust Chain of Custody management in place ensuring these certifications are maintained throughout the supply chain. We also have our own in-house polices to mange waste, recycling, storage and movement. This means you can craft with confidence, knowing your shapes are ethically and sustainably produced.
4mm Plywood
We currently use poplar plywood for our shapes. This is a high-quality, unfinished plywood that is ideal for wooden craft projects. Poplar is a pale, lightweight, low-density hardwood with a natural appearance, making it perfect for:
- Clear finishes or waxes
- Painting
- Pyrography (wood burning)
- Or simply left natural
We lightly sand both sides of each piece before it leaves the workshop. For an ultra-smooth finish, some additional preparation may be required. As with all timber, natural grain markings, flecks, or small knots may be present.
Our laser cutting process leaves a light brown edge and may occasionally cause small scorch marks on the surface. These are easily sanded away or can be painted over.
3mm MDF
This is one of the most popular choices for crafters. MDF is a man-made fibre board with no knots or grain, providing a smooth, even surface that requires very little preparation to achieve a clean finish (usually just light sanding between coats). It is strong, versatile, and excellent value for money.
As with our plywood, the laser cutting process leaves a light brown edge and may occasionally leave small scorch marks. These can be painted over or removed with sandpaper.
2mm MDF
The thinnest option in our range, 2mm MDF is lightweight and ideal for projects where minimal thickness is important. It offers excellent value for money and has the same smooth finish as 3mm MDF, though it is usually a little darker in colour.
Laser cutting may leave a brown edge and occasional small scorch marks, which can be sanded or painted over easily.

Quantity and discount information
We offer our wooden shapes in a wide range of pack sizes, with built-in discounts — meaning the larger the pack, the better the value. For example, a pack of 25 works out cheaper per piece than a pack of 5.
Not every size is available in every quantity, but as a general guide:

Ordering Custom Quantities
If the exact quantity you need isn’t listed, you can combine different packs to reach your desired total.
Example: If you need 30 shapes, order a pack of 25 plus a pack of 5.

How We Size Our Wooden Craft Shapes
Our wooden craft shapes are available in a variety of sizes, which you can select from the drop-down menu labelled Size.
We measure each shape using its largest dimension (either height or width), so you can easily understand the overall scale of the design.
If the shape is taller than it is wide, the Height (H) will be the largest size.
- Example: A giraffe listed as 8 cm will measure 8 cm high (H) and approximately 4.1 cm wide (W).
- If the shape is wider than it is tall, the width (W) will be the largest size.
Example: A tank listed as 8 cm will measure 8 cm wide (W) and approximately 2.2 cm high (H).
This way, the main measurement shown always reflects the largest part of the shape.
